Fremantle Court Care Home
Background
The site comprised derelict buildings in the countryside, detached from the built up area of Stoke Mandeville. The site had a long history of planning refusals because of the countryside status.
Development role
We identified the opportunity to take forward a care home on a site which had been repeatedly refused permission for residential development. We agreed a partnership deal with the landowner, introduced the end user and played a major role in negotiating the sale of the land.
Outcome
We took the development through the pre-application consultation with the local community, and local and high level political engagement, before submitting the application. The application was unanimously approved by the Development Control Committee at Aylesbury Vale District Council.
A 90-bed flagship care home for Fremantle Trust opened in 2014.
